Zanzibar- Before School Trip

I went to Zanzibar with two of the Scuba Squad ladies (Liz moved to China 😞) the weekend before school started, back in August.
And we're off! We don't know the girl on the left in the back, but she photo bombed us

Back in Stone Town the night before we left, so that we could NOT drive 2 hours the morning of departure. We went on a small boat ride to a small island off the coast for snorkeling and a little sightseeing.

Back to the Freddie Mercury House after our snorkeling trip! It was a stop on local tours, but we just walked right through the crowd and went in.

We splurged for business class on the way home. It turned out a great decision because we were rerouted to Fujairah due to a wind storm. Who knew Fujairah had an airport?!?!?!

What have I done? #Homesick #Lonely

It finally hit. I have literally  moved to the other side of the world.  Both this and yesterday mornings I awakened after a fantastic night's sleep and cried when I realized I am still here. In my apartment-that-feels-like-a-hotel-room-still. Cold marble floors. Echo-y 10 foot ceilings. It is SO hot. I knew this going in, and is exactly how I expected it. Maybe I was hoping I was wrong. I miss being outside all the time in Boise. I'm suddenly wishing I had spent way more time in the mountains this summer. I am SO cold. Just like Texas, they haven't figured out that when it's 114 outside, the A/C set to 80 would be sufficient. Every inside venue is freezing cold. I am lonely. My coworkers are really nice and kind but that doesn't seem to matter. There is nothing to do except be in a mall. I joined the wrong gym in my impulsiveness to get settled. And it's in a mall. Tow Truck Troubles in Tel Aviv

This is the tow truck driver. But we'll get to why he's headlining this post a bit later. Please play a little Willie while you read on. While I was in Jerusalem last Saturday night my car started sputtering--that kind that happens before you run out of gas, but this time I was NOT running out of gas (it may have happened to me a few times before 😏). I was able to make it to the parking garage near the Old City and went about the business of an outing in Jerusalem.  Thinking that maybe I was out of oil, I stopped on the outskirts of town to check the fluids, which were fine. I prayed the entire drive back to Tel Aviv (about an hour on Shabbat with minimal traffic). It was 10:30 p.m. and really cold. Although I felt safe--Israeli's are very helpful when you are in trouble, I could just foresee the hassle of breaking down on the highway, having to navigate the towing company from Tel Aviv...blah, blah, blah. I made it back to my street by the grace of God and even got a park...
